Staff provide clients with information about court protection order applications and assist clients in filling out and filing applications with the court.
Staff can provide referrals to private attorneys, the Domestic Violence Legal Advice Line, the Court Assistance Office, the Volunteer Lawyers Association and Idaho Legal Aid. We also provide the services of a paralegal to assist women with filing for legal immigration status under the Violence Against Women Act.
We provide rent assistance on a limited basis. We can also assist with other minor expenses related to a women’s case, such as renting a storage unit, changing house locks, and car repairs. Assistance for any of these items rarely exceeds $100. We also request emergency financial assistance on the behalf of a client from the Ministerial Association and County Services. We do not give out cash and do not provide short term loans.
We provide transportation for clients as needed. This includes taxi rides to local appointments, shuttles or car rides to Boise and Twin Falls to the airport, bus station, other shelters or housing, and assistance with purchasing bus and airline tickets.
Clients have access to the food, clothing, household supply and furniture donations.
Our office maintains a resource library which includes books on domestic violence, rape and sexual assault, divorce, self-help, self-care, education, health care, battering, anger, verbal and emotional abuse, children and families, divorce and breaking free, stalking, religion and domestic violence, substance abuse and domestic violence, relationships and communication, grief, and shame. There is also a Spanish language section of books on the above topics.
More information coming soon.
Our office assists clients in applying for and obtaining affordable housing.
All services are available in Spanish as well as English. Several staff speak fluent Spanish and all of our informational brochures are available in Spanish. Staff can also translate other documents that Spanish speaking clients need help understanding. |
